Set up Password login without an SMTP service¶

This feature is available for On-premise and Single tenant deployments. Supported from version 1.50 with the enhanced Login experience activated. For more information, see Enhanced Login Experience guide.
The Lightrun SMTP service facilitates user registration and authentication. For organizations without an SMTP server, the No SMTP option enables generating and sharing registration links, supporting the password login method.
Workflow of setting up login with no SMTP service:

Select No SMTP as your connectivity settings.

Select Password as your login method.

Perform the following based on the user type:
- New users: Create a password.
- Existing users: Generate and share the password reset link.
Set connectivity with no SMTP¶
- In the Lightrun Management Portal, navigate to the Organization Settings > Connectivity Settings > Connectivity Settings.

Select No SMTP service.

Click Save.
Set Password as your login method¶
- In the Lightrun Management Portal, navigate to the Identity and Access Management> Identity Configuration > Identity Configuration.

In the Login Methods section, select Password from the list.

Click Save.
Generate and share password links¶
Now that the Login method has been set to Password with no SMTP service, you can proceed to generate links to be sent to user for password registration.
- New users: Create and share a password for the user.
- Existing users: Generate and send password reset link for the user.
Generate and share the password with the user
- Log in to your Lightrun account.
- Click Settings located at the top right corner of your Management Portal.
- Select Users under Identity and Access Management.

Depending on the user:

For a new user:
Set the password for the user and share it with them.
Click Save.

For an existing user:
Click Generate to create a password reset link. Share the link with the user.
Click Save.
